Five Parsecs From Home
In all my excitement of playing my first trial campaigns of Five Leagues From The Borderlands, I picked up it's sci-fi brethern Five Parsecs From Home recently as well.
Five Parsecs is, like Five Leagues, a solo adventure skirmish wargame system but is sci-fi based instead of being fantasy based.
I have read the rulebook but have yet to try a game of this one yet. I have a plan you see...I have the sourcebooks (many of them actually) for the older Traveller: The New Era RPG from the 90's. I bought these back in college and have played a few campaigns of it but I love the setting. And I feel the system for Five Parsecs will fit into that setting beautifully.
So here's the plan. I am developing a setting before playing. I've learned my lessons from my couple of throwaway campaigns in Five Leagues and want to make a proper setting in the Traveller: TNE universe. We shall see how this goes but I'm excited to flesh it out. I am also going to flesh out a proper fantasy setting for Five Leagues as well. Nothing wrong with the default pseudo-setting but I think I want to play in a world I develop for that system as well.
So I am putting a hold on my existing games while I spend some time getting these settings together. For the sci-fi one, the game universe is fleshed out in a general sense but I need to get a sector put together and some worlds detailed. For the fantasy one, while I have no grand overarching ideas I will see what I can come up with.
So, now that is announced, we shall get to work on these settings then we can see about getting some fresh campaigns going and see how this goes. I'm excited!!!
